셀린박 갤러리의 ‘FUTURE FOOD: 혀가 느끼는 고민’의 아홉 작품 중 일부를 레벨제로에서 선보입니다.
디자이너들의 시선으로 바라본 ‘미래 식 환경’의 모습을 다양한 미디어를 통해 보여주며 우리 스스로 생각해 볼 화두를 던집니다.
이번 전시는 각 프로젝트에서 받은 영감으로 레벨제로가 만든 여러 신메뉴를 작품들과 페어링 하여 맛볼 기회가 주어집니다.
현재의 식소비 패턴을 지속하였을 때 야기될 수 있는 기후변화, 식량 손실과, 낭비 개선 등의 메시지를 담고 있는
작품을 셀린박갤러리와 레벨제로가 전시식(展示食)으로 풀어냈습니다.

'미래에 우린 무얼 먹고 살까?'
'FUTURE FOOD : 혀가 느끼는 고민'은 디자이너들의 시선을 통해 바라본 '미래 식환경'의 모습을 다양한 미디어로 보여주며 우리 스스로 생각해 볼 화두를 던져 준다.
현재의 식소비 패턴이 지속되었을 때 야기될 수 있는 기후변화, 식량 손실과, 낭비 개선, 공장식 축산 등의 사회적 이슈들을 쟁점으로 다뤘다.
각각의 프로젝트는 여러 분야의 전문가들과 협업해 합성생물학(synthetic biology) 혹은 사회 과학, 정치적 상황들을 기반으로
미래에 일어날 수 있을 법한 상황들을 실제와 같이 재연해, 관객들에게 사회적 메시지를 전달한다.

"FUTURE FOOD: The Worry Your Tongue" shows the "Future Food Environment" viewed through the eyes of designers in various media,
casting a topic for us to think for ourselves. Social issues such as climate change, food loss, waste improvement, and factory-style livestock were
dealt with as issues that could arise when the current food consumption pattern continued. Each project collaborates with experts in various fields
to re-enact possible situations in the future based on synthetic biology, social science, and political situations, as realistically as possible,
and deliver social messages to the audience.

‘Instant Detection’ 전시에서는 국내 최초로 해외에서 십수년간 (과거에서 현재까지) 디자인 필름을 대표하고 있는 11가지 영화를 특별 선정하여 상영중이다.
MoMA, British Museum 등 전 세계적인 박물관이 구매하거나, 해외 영화제에서 주목하고 상영한 작업만 선정하여 국내에서 최초로 선보인다.
노암 토란(Noam Toran), 셀린 박(Celine Park), 조셉 포퍼(Joseph Popper), 나마 슐렌더(Naama Schlendar),
히로키 요코야마(Hiroki Yokoyama), 조이 하우(Zoe Hough)의 11편의 단편 영화가 상영된다.

Via "Instant Detection", the audiences get chances to watch 11 short films that best represent the term of 'design films'
which have been specially selected to be screened for the first time in Korea. Noam Toran, Celine Park, Joseph Popper,

Speculative Design Seoul (SDS)은 국내에 스페큘레이티브 디자인 개념을 알리기 위해 Celine Park의 디자인 철학을
중심으로 형성된 그룹이다. 스페큘레이티브 디자인은 2000년대 초 런던 영국왕립예술대학에서 Dunne&Raby를 통해 처음 언급된
뒤로 전 세계의 주목을 받아왔다. 아직 한국에선 낯선 이 개념은 MoMA, 런던 디자인 뮤지엄, 뉴욕타임스, CNN 등의 꾸준한
언급을 통해 그 중요성을 실감할 수 있다. 이 개념은 미래적 시나리오를 제시하여 현재에 일어나는 사회적 이슈를 비판적 관점에서
바라보고, 새로운 시선으로 토론하도록 화두를 던지는 신 디자인 개념이다.
앞으로 디자인 개념은 더욱 확장될 것이다. 이러한 사회에서 스페큘레이티브 디자인을 통해 우리는
새로운 테크놀로지, 개념, 인문학, 철학을 경험할 수 있다. 이번 전시는 국내 최초 스페큘레이티브 디자이너
Céline Park과 채우리 연구원의 주도하에 이루어진 SDS의 2가지 스페큘레이티브 프로젝트를 최초로 공개한다.

Speculative Design Seoul (SDS) is a group formed under Celine Park's design philosophy
to educate the concept of speculative design in Korea. Speculative design has attracted worldwide attention
since it was first mentioned through Dunne & Raby at the Royal College of Arts in London in the early 2000s.
The concept, which is still unfamiliar in Korea, can be recognized through constant references by MoMA,
the London Design Museum, the New York Times, CNN and etc. The term is a new design concept that presents
a future scenario, giving a critical view of the social issues that arise in the present, and raising topics to discuss
with a new perspective.
The concepts of design will be further expanded in the future. Therefore, we can experience new technologies,
concepts, humanities, and philosophy through speculative design. The exhibition will unveil two speculative
design projects of SDS for the first time, which were led by Designer, Céline Park and Researcher, Woori Chae.

디자인 프로젝트 ‘곰팡이 백신 흡입기 (2015)’는 Céline Park이 디자이너로서 명성을 알리게 된
‘BIO-ART 2015 콘테스트에서 수상한 작품이자, Frame, Dezeen 등 수십개의 해외 유명 잡지들과
언론으로 소개되고, 많은 각광을 받았던 작품이다. 미래 제안적 디자인으로, 곰팡이를 백신화하여
의학기술로 발전할 수 있는 그 가능성을 제시하고, 곰팡이에 대해 흔히 부정적인 인식으로 그 잠재력에 대한
연구가 현재 이뤄지고 있지 않는 점에 대해서 사고의 확장을 가져왔다.

The design project "Fungus Inhale Vaccination (2015)" was the project that built Céline Park's reputation,
therefore the work was introduced to tones of famous magazines and media, including Frame and Dezeen,
and etc. As a future-proposed design, it suggested the possibility of developing molds into medical technology,
and it led to the expansion of thinking about the fact that research on their potential is not currently being conducted
with a common negative perception of fungus.
